Stainless Base Price Increase

Increasing base prices approximately 10 – 16% effective Feb, 2012

Effective with shipments on Monday, January 2, 2012 North American Stainless is increasing prices for all stainless 200, 300, and 400 series cold rolled products. This increase will be achieved by reducing the functional discount by (4) discount points. In addition, for all hot roll and automotive grade products, base prices will increase by $.08 lb. All applicable surcharges will remain in effect as outlined on our company website. This increase is necessary to support further investment in our business. West Chester, OH, November 17, 2011—AK Steel (NYSE: AKS) said today that it will increase base prices for all 200, 300 and 400 series flat rolled stainless steel products, effective with shipments on January 1, 2012. AK Steel said this increase will be achieved through a reduction in the functional discount of four percentage points for cold rolled and hot rolled products. Base prices of automotive exhaust grades and bright anneal finishes will increase by $.08 per pound. All raw material surcharges for stainless steel products, including those for materials under .015 inch thickness, will remain in effect. Effective with shipments Monday, January 2, 2012, ATI Allegheny Ludlum is increasing base prices by approximately 10%-16% for stainless cold-rolled and hot-rolled sheet and strip, tubular-quality sheet and strip, continuous-mill-plate products, and emission-control alloys. This increase is achieved by reducing the functional discount by four percentage points on most stainless products and increasing the base price on continuous-mill-plate and emission-control alloys by $0.08/lb.

Effective with shipments January 2nd, 2012 the ThyssenKrupp Stainless North America companies will increase prices on all 200, 300, and 400 series cold rolled stainless steel products. Prices for all 200, 300 and 400 series cold rolled products will be increased by reducing discounts by four points.
